Daytona I will never get tired of hearing about the cars you have owned and the stories about them. I have been in the hobby since the early 80's and just never had enough money to buy what I really wanted.
I'm glad everyones not asleep, or bored sh!tless by now
I like to remember some of the good times I had in the automotive/MOPAR hobby, and I hope others might gather a little knowledge, or gain an idea...
...I had owned a few old Vettes before switching to MOPARS, they were in the $2K to $4K price range then.....the Daytona in 1980 cost me $9K.....the owner financed it for a year at 6% and I paid it off in 10 months....I always joked I paid for the car .25 cents at a time....I had just bought some video games(Pac Man, etc etc) and I was putting them out everywhere I could ......I devoted all the profits from the games to the Daytona till it was fully paid for(the machines paid for themselves in about 5 weeks in the early days)....
....then I purchased a T/A for $5300....34K mile, 4 spd Go-Mango car......I got a bank loan for 90 days .....then the video profits went towards that car loan till it was paid down...
... I bought another T/A in a few weeks and got a second 90 day loan for it also....now I was overstocked and had to sell one.... I went to the MOPAR Nats in about 1985 and solld the orange T/A and a few weeks later sold the lime T/A....it was addicting buying and selling cars, and especially making a profit on them....I became hooked and the cars began to roll thru my garage, some staying longer than others....but that is basically how I got started, just a couple of small loans.....the next cars I borrowed less and less till I was finally financing the cars myself out of the profits..
my first overstock situation
GoMango was leaving for Minnesota the next day, and the Lime T/A left a short while later.....the Lime T/A was a local one owner all original car with 54K miles, GoMango had just had a repaint about 1982, but all else was original....both were numbers matching 4spds....both T/A Challengers were gone, this left me with a couple thousand $$$ profit to shop for another car....let the games begin
