They literally make the earth rumble! Their sound is very distinctive. Chebbie and Ferd boys beware a HEMI means business.

 :bananasmi Heard many many hemi's both on the street and at the strip............but never have rode in one  :'( and will never own one ..............unless I win the lottery.  :cooldancing: But I do have a fresh lean mean built 440 6 pk  :clapping:  :woohoo:  :roflsmiley:

Crates sound the same as the originals as long as were not talking new style Hemi.

The solid lifter hemis (69 and earlier) have a more mechanical sound that the hyd. lifter motors. Those big valve covers magnify the solid lifter noise.

The do have a unique sound when you open them up and the 8 bbls kick in. The 440-6's also have a sound all thier own when the outboards open up. I've owned both and they both are an experience to feel and hear!

i loved'em, rubbed'em when i was suppoed to, stared, touched, dreamed and wanted one... but never drove one....   :popcorn:

Actually they sound like a stout 440 IMO

I just heard one today for the first time (as far as I can remember).  My buddy has a '68 Hemi Roadrunner.  I offered to drive it to Carlisle for him since he is taking a truck full of parts to sell, but he said no thanks. :crying: He has a plaque from Carlisle from when they invited him to show his car in one of the buildings 2 years ago.

I have heard them, drove them and owned one.I had one shohorned into a 70 Duster and it was a bear to handle when you nailed the throttle. :burnout:

Got my first ride in one this summer and I was shaking from the pure excitement.the car is a 68 gtx with a 4spd.I will let you all in on something really cool,if you have been following my latest post's then you know about the 69 hemi engine that was just bought.Well my friend LOU who own's the hemi gtx will be tearing down that engine for inspection and said he would teach us all about the hemi. I'm going to HEMI school---------the clown
