360 carburation
« on: June 14, 2006 - 07:53:50 AM »
So I picked up a jet kit to dial in my Edelbrock carb and in reading the carb manual i found it is a 600cfm. Am i suffocating the 360 with this small a carburator? It is a completely stock 360 motor, headers, 4-speed.

It all depends how high of rpm you're running to.

I'd say you're fine below 6000rpm... choking past that.

600 is fine. When it comes to what size is ideal or not enuff, the amnifold should be hhoked up to a gauge and see what the readings are.
A pressure of 1.5 is to high for best performance and a larger carb can be used.
The difference in a 600 to 750 on some engines produce on 5-7 hp more.
So is it worth the expense?
