Hood emblems for a 1970 Challenger Rt 383 Magnum

    Hood emblems for a 1970 Challenger Rt 383 Magnum

    My car has 383 Magnum emblems on the hood, went to buy new ones at Year One today( Chip Foose attended for a fundraiser) and they do not show them for a 1970 model.......were they supposed to have them?

    PS at the Year One car show today saw an EXACT twin to my car but a loaded 2 tag model convertible....power windows etc.....awesome car....never met the owner tho.....anyone else at the show?

    We didn't go to the Year One show today, sorry.  You should be able to find those emblems for the 383.  I can't remember where we got ours, but it wasn't Year one.  I'll post here when I remember....probably around 3:00 am or something.  :grinyes:

    Check your local Mopar dealer, There are a lot that are still available new.

       I get the drift from Paddock's catalog, that both the 383, and 440 Magnum emblems were for 71-74 cars. Too bad, as I put them on my 70.  :grinyes:  :lol:  They make a nice touch.  :thumbsup:

    thats what I am seeing, no listing for a 70 model......sooooo anyone know what orig hood emblem was on a 1970 383 Magnum Challenger?


    I thought they came with the 383 mag.....so why don't these catalogs show it?

    This is good stuff! It is quite confusing - trying to figure out what the hood emblems should be that is. I  have a jh23 1971 chally with the RT hood - 383 4bbl carb. Dunno what the emblem should be though! I guess "383 four barrel". Or...maybe my car didn't even come out stock with the RT hood (no fender tag or build sheet) so I'm stuffed!!! What do you guys reckon??

    Do they have 2 or 4 retainers prepering my car for paint i don't have the 383 magnum emblems my rally hood has 4 holes 2 in the middle and 2 ether side is that corect.

    I used to have a 383 4 bbl. 4 speed "plain" Challenger.  It had the flat hood and 383 four barrel emblems on the fenders below the Challenger emblem.  The emblems looked like the hood ones in size.  They read four barrel like the 72-74 cars instead of magnum.  With some creativity they could be made up by combining the 70-71 emblem with a 72-74 emblem. 


    70 RTSE, I would recommend getting some emblems before you paint to know which holes to use and which to fill.  You do not need 4 holes.

    R/T's should read '383 magnum', non-R/T 's are '383 four barrel'. Make sure you get them for an e-body as they are a smaller font than the b-body emblems which are larger.

    My Black 1970 Challenger had the 383 Magnum on the hood. That was back in 1973 and I would say that it came that way from the factory.

    Sarting in '72 the 'Ralley' replaced the R/T and the '383 four barrel' emblem was dropped and all 383 cars got '383 magnum' emblems.
