Trans still not working! ***UPDATED!!!***
« on: June 18, 2006 - 04:43:03 AM »
We installed the new sealing rings and air tested the clutch pack and it worked fine.Insatlled it in the car and at first it would go right into all gears but as I drove it down the street it still wouldn`t go into 3rd and got progressively slower going into reverse, same exact symptoms as last time. What could be causing this?

If it goes right into reverse cold each time but loses it as it warms up you have a pressure loss some where . Did you check input shaft inplay after you got the pump bolts tight. If the end play is too much it could let the drums move out of position and let the hydraulic pressure leak. The other thing is a parts mismatch . If you take it back apart and can take some good pics ,maybe I can spot something.

Trans shop says it`s all fixed!I won`t be picking it up till Tuesday but hopefully we`ll get it in and working middle of next week. After my buddy took it over to the shop last Thursday for a run on thier trans dyno they spent most of the day and still couldn`t figure out what the problem was.Monday they swapped valve bodies and still not fixed so finally they tore everything apart and found a thrust washer and snap ring missing from the planetary! Those pieces must have been missing right from Fairbanks as we never dug that far into it as my buddy assumed  ::) everything was ok.The missing parts caused excessive play which must have been causing the loss of pressure.
