my ex-Superbird is on EBay...BUY IT NOW, $280K...
« on: June 18, 2006 - 07:35:42 PM »
the car had 10K miles on it when I bought it from the original owner, he was 93 years old and had bought the car new for his wife in 1970....she drove the car for several years before turning the car into a storage shed for her gardening equipment.....I drove the car for several months, even drove it to the MOPAR Nats in about 1989.....it drove like a new car(it should have with 10K miles) and I put over 3K miles on it that summer before selling it to a guy in Tullahoma, Tenn....he restored the car, kept it several years and it apparently has changed hands several times since....it was the most original MOPAR I ever owned till last week....

with it being a 4bbl car, I would guestimate $125K -$150K tops....one of my old Daytonas was on EBay a few months ago with less miles(9K), red and a dealer installed 6Pak.....it bid to $230K

Wow, nice car. I always loved the superbirds, probably just because they're so distinctive.  Hey Daytona, do you prefer superbirds or Daytona's? Just curious.

.....Daytonas are my favorite, by far....they have the looks, the history....purity of form and function.....

.....Superbirds do drive better, partially due to the bigger tires, but they were just a copy cat of the Daytona....

Cool, I never even seen one in real life so i'm only going by pictures, but I always like the superbirds, maybe it is just the name I like.

I have always loved winged cars. If i would have ever had my hooks into one i know i never would let it go. Probably would sleep in it for a week or so anyway. The prices on them are getting way outa reach for the average joe. I ran into this one last summer on vacation in British Columbia Canada. Thanks for sharing Daytona.

There were only about 500 Daytona's in 69 only, correct?
And about 200 Superbirds in 70?
My wifes cousin from Michigan (We're in So Cal.) bought a Daytona about 7 or 8 years ago from a guy in Newport Beach CA. for 40 grand. The guy spent 60 grand restoring it at 7 thousand miles. 40 was all it would fetch at the time! NOW?????????????
I had it in my garage for a few days til the enclosed carrier took it to Michigan. I'm so cool!

there were close to 2,000 Superbirds in 1970 (1985 has always been the published number)

Yes the daytonas were first and plymouth had to throw the RR bird together to catch up.. All superbirds have vynl tope too because the back glass didn't fit quite right.  I like them both, but doubt I could ever own either one.

the Daytona had extensive body work to install the fastback glass, the vinyl roof on the Superbird was just a cost saving measure....the Bird is relatively unfinished underneath the vinyl top....
