Well finally finished the engine work on my dad's Challenger, it held me back from working on my car for a while but I feel the results were well worth it. Anyhow, about 2 weeks ago the rear seal started leaking pretty badly and it was a good excuse for me to pull the engine and clean everything up. However, as the story goes....one thing led to another and my Dad decided that now would be a good time for a new cam, intake, headers, and electronic ignition. I had no objection because it was his money and I get to drive the car anyway ;D Almost everything went in smoothly and surprisingly so did the Hooker competition headers, which I give two :thumbsup:. I did hit one snag.....the distributor is leaking at the base, does anyone know how to remedy this leak? I've pulled the distributer 3 times and put in a new o-ring and seal, but nothing seems to work. I believe the base of the distributer was machined wrong and might buy a new one. If a new distributer is needed, does anyone have any feedback on the vacuum advance distributer that Mancini sells for 120 bucks? Anyhow, since  :useless: I figured I would show the engine compartment when I started and after I was finished, its a little dusty but still looks decent.

Looks good are you going to hook the heat back up?  Just wondering as most of us won't really use it anyways!

Are you gonna punch holes in those valve covers for breathers or PCV? I need to do that and was wondering if I should go dual breather or breather/PCV combo

On the oil leak, could the oil possibly be coming from the back of the intake manifold?  :dunno:

I replied on the thread you made about the covers. In the 4th pic you can kind of see the pcv valve, I'll attach a better angle for you to see.

I thought about that but when I checked it the cork gasket looked clean (as if the oil isnt going under it) but then again I cant see the whole gasket because of where it is. I will check it again tommorow and make sure before I order that distributor. Thanks :thumbsup:

The heat will eventually go back on as it can get a little chilly on a summer night in Ohio. The reason it isnt hooked up now is because the inlet is broken, so I will have to pull the core out and solder it back up, shouldnt be a big problem...I just dont feel like doing it. It will have to get done soon because that balancer bolt looks more than a little out of place. I really wish I didnt have to put it back on because I feel that the absence of hoses really cleans up the engine compartment. Come to think of it I will probably delete it on my car and just use the exhaust cutouts to heat the floor :grinyes:

Nice job... :thumbsup: :thumbsup: I don't have my heater hooked up either, as I don't normally drive it in the winter. You might also check to see if the oil is comming out of the vent holes at the bottom of the top section of the dist. I had one that would leak there.

Lookin good! Just a suggestion on what i did for my 'heater delete'. About 3-4months out of the year i actually use mine, daily driven...it gets a little chilly out. Anyway, i drilled/tapped my water pump outlet. There is a threaded plug in mine for when i dont use it, when i want to..just get a allen wrench and pop the plug out. just my .02cents. looks good

I've since put a thermostat for the fan in the intake where my heater nipple usually goes. I'll just remove the plug on the drivers side of the intake and about a 45* AN nipple setup for when it goes back together to clear the upper rad hose.
