'Cuda Poll - Shaker Hood or Bulge Hood?
« on: June 20, 2006 - 06:59:15 AM »
If I do end up getting a 340-6bbl setup I may look at adding a Shaker Hood setup in the near future.
Two problems, 1) It may look odd being a 73. 2) It would cost a total of $7,000 US  :eek7:

All products from Sixpackperformance.com

Shaker Hood Kit - $4,200 US
Complete 6bbl Setup - $2,100
Total - $7,200+ US (Shipping)
My Face when driving down the highway?   Priceless  :lol2:

Seriously, that's a shlt load of money. I could care less about what's correct and whats right for that year. The Challenger is my correctness car, to a point. I made that how I want with some modern features but to the average Joe even correctness freaks she still looks the part. The 'Cuda on the other hand is an open paddock of which I don't mind what I do.  :naughty: I think it would look neat, 73, 74 65 what ever year outside the US they're rare.

Andrew was kind enough to do a photo-shop image for me.
Not the best as he said it was rushed....but, you get the look.

Cheers,
Carl

I will say that the bulge hood is alot easier to deal with as the shaker is in the way when wanting to work on the engine sometimes!  Sure would look good either way!    :clueless:  That kind of money, you could almost buy a whole 'nother car!    :screwy:

Thanks guys, at this stage I'm more for the bulge.
Looks good, is correct (not that that matters) and it will save me $4,200!  :bananasmi

I think I should first aim for the 340-6bbl depending on my thread feedback.

Thanks for your input.

I like the bulge hood better. A person might get more enjoyment from the car by investing the 7200 into a five-speed and rack-and-pinion set-up.

Your cuda' looks great now and unless it doesn't run all that well leave everything the way it is. If you are going to do anything then I guess the 6-pak would be the better choice, but even then I feel that it isn't really worth it. I say keep the 7k as a down payment for that triple black charger you want ;D

What about the AAR hood?  I've always liked they way they look on the Cudas.  The price is also much more resonable.  I love the Shaker but could never bring myself to spend that much.

:iagree:  I think a AAR hood with the six pack, then put on the stipe and black out the grille. The grille has the crome trim in it already and will look close.  Thats just my opinion. With the wheels and bumpers you have on now I think an AAR look would be awesome.   :jumping:

Thanks for your opinions everyone, some great points made.

AAR, I would have to say absolutely no chance. I would put a Shaker, but AAR stripes, hood, the whole package, would look odd and very incorrect. Incorrect is fine, to a degree. The AAR hood would be quite neat by itself.

Killer - LOL  :lol2: Nope I can't buy anymore cars, I just can't! But......

At this stage the 6bbl setup is first in-line. I'm just wanting to hear those outboards kick in. :bananasmi
Hood IMO is fine but I just wanted your opinions as if I were going ahead with the 6bbl maybe a change of hood too.

Looks great Vince, I didnt' realize how much I like the body coloured bumpers. Wish I had of given her a chance rather then sell before having a chance to enjoy it. I sure hope patience comes with age.  :faint:

on a CUDA, the SHAKER is where its at.

A SHAKER hood is a SHAKER hood....   then there are the others.

just look at Andrew's photo some more.

Why buy two hoods ?   Go to the SHAKER the first time and do it right.
