118 is the speed.  The times were 12.0 to 12.2

Not really a spaking, but a very cool video of a Cuda beating a chebby.  One of them left a couple tenths on the track with that HORBLE start.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

That is a hell of a race, but not much of a spanking. Great video.

Very cool video!

Looks like they were both using factory steel rims.  Wonder what they could do with slicks!

I liked it!

The video says "Hemi 'Cuda vs ZL-1 Camaro" I would think that a real ZL-1 would be worth too much to race that hard. From Mopar Muscle Magazine:

"1969 ZL1 Camaro
1969 was a brief window in time where model proliferation, engine options, and bulls-eye styling converged to create some incredible Camaro combinations. By far, the most exotic was the ZL1 Camaro. Sixty-nine were built and each came with two things that would guarantee its place in legend and lore: a 430hp all-aluminum 427 (a staggering $4,160 option) developed for Can Am racing, and a price tag over $7,000 (a basic V-8 Camaro was less than $3,000)."

Anyway, nice to see a 'Cuda edge out that Chevy.

I guess some people are still racing them.

Check out this site.  The one in the picture looks like the one in the video link above.  Looks like 2 ZL-1s will be racing there.

Wow look at that. The photo does look like the one in the video! And there is a pair scheduled to race! Well they were built for racing, so it’s nice to see them used for that purpose.

In that case, perhaps Cartech Book's “SIX-PACK Mopar Street Muscle in the ‘60s” should strike this sentence about the ZL-1 on  page 34: “Yes, it could beat anything on the street including a Hemi of Six Pack 440.” Not according to that video. They both looked and sounded fairly stock.

Found this info on the ZL-1 on the Mecum Collector Car Auctioneer website:  “Of the original 69 cars, just 41 have survived. Of this 41, just seven cars have been documented as having their original, factory installed and matching numbers engine.”

One sold for $800,000 in October of 2005.

Does make you alittle worried driving it on the street... I've been rear ended a few times.  >:(

The video is from the Factory Stock / F.A.S.T. race at Martin MIchigan held on June 16 & 17. The Cuda was driven by Bob Karakashian and the Camaro by Pete Simpson. It was the finals of the factory stock part of the show. The finals of the F.A.S.T. portion of the show was Dave Dudek in his Hemi Road Runner losing in a spin fest to Wayne Nelson in a L88 Corvette.

Guilty as charged as a bubblehead, 4 years on the 650 boat.
As far as the F.A.S.T. racing, the money involved depends on how fast do you want to go. Racing last year with a small block was tough( 12.50's ), so a little more horsepower has been added ( mid 11's ).   Should be done in time for the race and show at Englishtown , July 29th.
