Is there good ground clearance on Hemi TTi headers?

For the Hemi I heard TTI is the best. I used the Hooker Super Comps on my Hemi Challenger and they were a nightmare. Since I didn't have the TTi's I'm not sure on the ground clearance but the Hookers hit on speed bumps... Not a sound you want to hear after you spent 20k on a motor.... Maybe somebody that ran the TTi's know if they're low too?

we used headers on a conver I worked on a couple of years ago , it has no ground clearance problems that I have heard about & it doesn`t sit high

Anyone had any issues as far as fit goes with Hooker comp. headers on small blocks??  I know that tti will fit but if I can save $400 I would like to!

the #3 tube comes over the top of the #5&7 spark plugs perfectly making it No fun to change them & you will burn wires
the other down fall is for some silly reason the header tubes go under the center steering link & hang far too low making it the First thing you will hit on speed bumps etc which tends to drastically shorten the life of the headers , other than that they are OK

Look at the numbers, the headers really show a difference only in the mid range HP
That engine was a 300 HP create engine. A more powerful engine will show more dynamic results.

I think it boils down to goals & priorities you choose when building your car. Generally speaking, when it comes to getting the most horse power from your engine, headers are the way to go. However, any HP gains from adding headers is going to be offset with other possible factors as well. Headers are louder (which is why I think most people want them, the intimidation factor) generally produce more under hood and floor pan heat, (even coated or wrapped examples) often reduce ground clearances, can interfere with other under hood or chassis componants causing rattles, rubbing, etc. and sometimes can be leak prone especially at the head surfaces. Not to mention, if you have a newer OEM style exhaust system it is often required that you modify it to mate with the headers, not a big deal but your OEM exhaust from the mufflers forward is now ruined.

Most Mopar HP exhaust manifolds are quiet, less likely to leak, make excellent horse power, run cooler under the hood, and  are nearly as valuable used as when new. Also, keep in mind that you can only use a certain amount of HP on the street, traction being the limiting factor, you may gain a little HP but loose it in tire smoke just as easily. At the track with slicks you may gain a tenth or two, but on the street you probably won't notice any real difference other than the added rumble from the headers. After many years of driving cars with both headers and stock manifolds I like the manifolds.

TTI header were more money than the others but what i,ve saved in burnt plug wires, more than paid for the extra cash on the headers.     :2cents:

Is there good ground clearance on Hemi TTi headers?

On the Beast I run TTi's and only have about 3" ground clearance where the downtubes merge at the collectors.

I'm thinking I can get 650 HP from the engine without TTi headers. Headers are 885.00. Manifolds are 600.00. Almost a 300 dollar difference. As the spec sheet showed, it seems that Horsepower really only improves in the mid range RPM. I had always heard that headers give a 50 HP increase, but I think that may only apply to a restricted exhaust system comparison.

topcat,

650 from your Hemi? I guess you have some modifications planned for it?  :naughty:  :naughty:  :naughty: You bring up a good point about the rest of the exhaust system coming into play. That is most definitely a factor. Just my opinion, but I think it's all about how you plan to drive the car. Headers will give you a boost in mid to upper RPM range. The size of the tubes on the headers matters too. Bigger the tube, the more it is designed for upper RPM's. If you are getting 650 from your engine, I wouldn't worry about the pain of headers.

That is what I'd like to get. Whether or not I do remains undetermined. A solid lifter cam (CP's recommendation) could at least get me to 500+. A stroker crank could find the rest. But they like $1,800 I heard.
