Little baby rabbit we rescued
« on: June 21, 2006 - 10:19:56 PM »
tonight I was looking out the back porch and I see this little rabbit hopping around. So we rescued it. My GF wants to keep it. It's so cute. Anybody know what kind of rabbit it is?

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

We live near a busy intersection. We had no choice but to rescue it. Somebody must have abandoned it.  Plus, there are a lot of stray cats around too. It would've turned into a midnight snack if we didn't rescue it.

Definately not a Bugs Bunny or a Playboy Bunny, a Holland Lop maybe?

Weally cute wabbit!

You don't find lop ear rabbits in the wild do you?

The ones I've seen, at least in my area, are the short eared brown rabbits.

It's definitely a domestic rabbit, and it looks like a young Mini Lop.  The color is called tortoiseshell.

Awwww...he's a cutie.  How could someone abandon that little thing??  I bet he was an Easter present for someone who doesn't think he's so cute anymore.   :banghead:  Are you going to keep him?

Yeah, it loooks that way. But it's her decision. She caught it.

Thank you so much cudafied for all your advice that you e-mailed us. We decided that the right thing to do is to put lost baby rabbit signs around with our phone number in the area. If the right description is mentioned then they of course deserve to get their pet back. If nobody claims it, then we will keep it and go have the vet check it out. Whoever owned it, took good care of it before we found it.
Meanwhile our cat is getting along well with it. Seems to be liking it. So no problems with him.
