He can make one but needs to know something: (his email below)

On second thought, for your application, since you will be cutting the center section down so dramatically, I will install a nut on the left and right side of the plate for your cross bar (so the bar won’t interfere with your choke horn) and I will make certain that you can use the two existing nuts (front and rear) for your lid studs. You might have to actually use a 6bbl lid with different spacing in order for this to work (no major difference in appearance). I will see what I can do. I know this may seem confusing, so if you have questions let me know. The problem is, when you cut down that center section and lower the plate down over the carb, the choke horn becomes an obstruction and complicates matters slightly. So instead of running your cross bar from front to back, you would need to run it from side to side.

I have attached a pic of a different plate I sell with the 4 nut set-up to which I am referring (this one happens to be my own personal finished plate, you'll get the idea of how you need to construct the cross bar..

Now if your carb has no choke horn, let me know, because then you can just go with the plate above and the normal 4bbl lid above and I can tell you how to make a special cross bar that would incorporate the lid studs easily and you will be all set.



Now, how do I know or find out if my Demon has a choke horn?

I've attached the photos of his setup. Anyone know what colours I will need to use to paint this stuff?
Hemi Orange and gloss black? or?

 base should be semi gloss black , top should be Hemi orange

What size do you think that is? Can you tell from the outside? Like 800, 850cmf etc?

cannot tell the size but you definatly do NOT have the choke horn so it has to be a Mighty Demon or better

Thanks CP, sounds good then. Couple more quickies....is the Hemi orange lid gloss or a flat type paint?


Do those bolts that come up from the front and rear of the base attached to the underside of the base itself?
I'm just wondering how the lid attaches as my carb doesn't have those two rods.

no he will cast in a bracket to hole the lid with the 2 studs , the lid should be gloss paint

Now I know what I have to get and order one last thing.


Will getting this air filter/air cleaner set up hinder performance at all?
Am I'm better off with the stock Mopar air filter setup (see photo).
Will it make a difference at all, maybe less air? Maybe better air flow?

Just wanting to know if my hp/torque may drop before I commit to buying it.
If it's only looks that change and performance stays the same, sweet.
If I make more hp awesome if I loss hp or airflow I won't get it.

NZ, K&N makes an air filter for that 6 pac lid.

Hi NZ...  Those oval cleaners are nice and I used one on the Hemi Challenger but the fiberglass base made me a little nervous in case of a fire. Having a lot of Vettes fires is one nasty thing  :22yikes:

You can get the number off that carb and find out what size it is. Its a nice looking Cuda. What size is the motor?

That filter on ebay is like a stock replacement. I prefer the K&N for preformance. They can be cleaned also. If you want the original look then the ebay one is good.

Thanks 67Vette427, the engine is a 70-73 (will run the numbers soon) 340ci with some goodies in it.  :swaying:
Estimated to be around 360hp+ plenty more left but I have just got it and am happy enough with it as-is.

What is the difference in the K&N and stock replacement filters; colour?, style?  :dunno:

I should be fine in terms of a fire starting...shouldn't I?  ??? :sly: :-[

Fiberglass goes up fast. I think they're fine because it would have to back fire into the metal lid first, if it even did. I've had a couple carb fires because of backfires. You shouldn't have a problem. Here's a picture of the K&N I used.
