WTB or Has Anyone Got a Throttle Stud?

From that topic where Robb scared the crap out of my pants talking about throttles sticking I had someone look at my set up and it wasn't good. I have already ordered a Chrysler throttle lever extension from Summit.

Now all I need to make my setup safe is a Throttle Stud. Does anyone have a good condition one lying around?

Below is a photo of my setup from the previous owner.
If anyone else has any pointers on what's not safe or what can be improved please advise.

I don't want my throttle to stick is my main concern.  :faint:
I found this stud on eBay but it has no bolt and it says it's for an A-Body.

But, I'd prefer to find one for a E-Body and with a matching bolt.
Would the stud above work? Also, can any bolt that fits do or are they "special"?

I just ordered from this company and they will have everything you need.  I order the trans. kickdown cable kit and  throttle bracket.  I already had the stud, but they have those too.

What do I need exactly? Accelerator bracket? Trans kickdown? Or Both?


I don't mind spending a little money to get the job done right and more importantly, safe.

Well what you need and what you want are 2 different things.

Seeing how you have to pay extra $$$ for shipping I would order both items. 

I can post some pics for you tonight to see.  I would get the accelerator cable bracket right off quick.  What it does is keep your throttle cable on the same plane as the throttle lever so you have a nice smooth and even movement.  Easy to install and works great.

As far as the trans kickdown cable kit, it really isn't neccessary.  However it is very easy to adjust, provides a nice smooth movement and eliminates any guessing if you have all the linkages adjusted properly. 

I would recommend getting both and don't forget to order the stud while you're at it.  The website says what you'll need depending on what carb you are running also.  I sent them an e-mail and they responded within 24 hours with the answers I needed so if you want to clarify about an adapter for your carb and linkage, just send them what you have and they will let you know.


In your pic, I don't like how the trans return spring pulls at an angle.  Also the red arrows show the plane of movement that I would prefer to have for the carb and the trans linkage.  You'll see when I post my set-up tonight how everything lines up and moves together.

I have been very happy with setup. It is pretty universal, sits on rear drivers side carb stud and is braided (see picture-hard to see with aircleaner)

If you were a weldor and fabricator, I would just extend the 2 pieces that are causing the bind. I would also cut weld and extend the Throttle cable bracket to run vertical to the carb stud.

 Yours did stick at WOT I assume.   If you extend the Kick down rod to match the new height of the higher intake, and extend the link on the manifold bracket, I think that'll fix it.  If you're not a fabricator, get the kickdown cable from Lokar and the raised cable mounts I see on EBAY.

Lokar cable for the kickdown, just get it overwith.


triple check the accelerator pedal so that there is no way of using your foot on the pedal, that it will open past WOT.   Use a GOOD helper, not a brick on the pedal.

While people have their preferences, some like the lokar kit, I prefer this one.  Look at the pictures below.  I labeled some items but it is very straight forward.  If anyone has any questions please ask away.  I highly recommend this set-up but I will admit it is a bit pricey.  The throttle cable bracket could be fabbed up and I would have but at $30 my time was more valuable to work on other projects.  The kickdown cable kit is pricey compared to the lokar but I feel that this one is better. 
Either way you go, I'm sure you will be much happier and safer too.  :thumbsup:

Mike from what I can tell the Bouchllion guys have it fugured out. They have setups for many different models. Just contact them & explain what you have & I bet they have THE solution. ..
