340 conversion to 440 four speed
« on: June 27, 2006 - 11:19:48 PM »
I know this is a newbie question and I thank you for all of your help in the past.  Can any one give me a list of parts that I will need to convert my 73 340 challenger to a 440.  I already have the motor and tranny.

Thanks again

You will need a different radiator; motor mounts (the ones that attach to the engine), exhaust head pipes (at the connector) or different headers.  Your throttle cable will need to be a different length.  You will have to add length to  some of your wiring going to your alternator.  You did not state whether your car came with an auto trans or standard trans.  There are several steps to convert to manual from automatic also. What trans came in your car? I'm guessing an automatic. To go from an auto to standard you will need a different trans tunnel in the car.  You need to weld a ball stud mount for the trans z-bar to the frame of the car.   You will need to change to standard trans clutch and brake pedals.
