Leaf Springs - Mancini vs. Others
« on: June 30, 2006 - 11:02:17 AM »
Does anybody know why Mancini leaf springs are about 33% cheaper than Year One and Paddock? Is it just a matter of restoration-correct finishes and/or markings, or is there a difference in spec?

Mancini is mostly selling the Mopar Performance which is one of the lower priced springs I have found.(Word is don't use MP leafs) I don't know the source for year one or paddock but they will generally always be higher than anyone else on the same items but the consensus seems to be that they carry the better products. If you can find the same product elsewhere you will probably find somewhat lower prices.

Thanks for the info, Bullitt. Where the link points, are those the higher grade springs?

Have no personal expierience with replacement leaf springs but have been watching/studying product & price. Most here sing the praises of ESPO http://www.espo.com/ It appears they will cost upwards of 300. I see others as low as 150 set +shipping  http://leafspringstacks.generalspringkc.com/cdcar.html

I just want to add that I bought from Espo. I wanted a higher than stock stance to fit bigger tires, and they helped me a bunch!!  :worshippy I bought new shackels from them that I couldn't get anywhere else either. I am SOOO happy with them. Great service.

I agree with MEK on this one. Espo has the best quality at the time. I won't even waste my time with another set of Mopar Performance leafs. Last set of MP's that I bought were a set of XHD's for a dart that sagged within a bit over a month.

There's a ton of pics at:

members.aol.com/lateebody/scrap.htm

These go up to about 1999. This was the very first web page I made, and as soon as I learn Flash to a workable extent I'll update it all, and add some newer pics.

MEK - do you have any idea if the Year One springs are from Espo? I'm thinking that that will be the deal-breaker for me coming to Carlisle. If the YO springs are good I'll have them take a set to the show and pick them up.

Forgot: I don't recall the paint code, but it's originally dark silver. The paint on it now is actually a 93 Plymouth color; I wanted to go a little darker.

Well ... turns out that YO no longer delivers to Carlisle. Last I recalled they would at least bring pre-orders to the show, but it's been a while.

Anyway, since I have to pick up the axle in Charles Town, WV in any event, I figure I might as well drive up to Carlisle for my birthday  :grinno:

I don't think Espo is too far from Carlisle, but you would have to contact them before you stop by in case they don't have the springs you want made already. I was surprised it only cost about $40 to have the springs shipped to me, considering how heavy they are.

I have bought the mopar springs and the last set came from espo and I will not buy another set of mopar springs. Espo makes you up a matched set when you order them and this way you get a perfect set not mass produced and then grabbed from a pile. I have heard of the height side to side being off over 1 inch from the mopar springs.
