MISSING VIN PLATE
« on: April 30, 2002 - 10:47:16 PM »
I just bought a '70 cuda convertible with a missing dash VIN plate, but the correct door VIN  plate.  Does anyone know where I can get a replacement dash VIN plate made to make the car correct and pass state inspection?
Please e-mail me at lawlessfamily@cs.com if you can help.  Thanks

So is there no hope for this guy?  With the exception of finding the orig vin plate?

There has got to be something?

:'( Oh, what a raw deal, I don't know what state you bought this car from, but in Ohio as far as the law is concerned you just bought a parts car no matter it's condition. As far as retriveing the original vin tag from the dash, how are you going tp prove it actually came from that car? I'm curious, what kind of title transfer was made when you bought the car? Or did you just get a "bill of sale"? WHAT A MESS !! Sorry JLawless, I feel for you, but welcome to the board, no pun intended, but your username may be an omen to the predictament you find yourself in here. BEST OF LUCK.

I do believe with proper documentation Galen Govier will make a VIN plate. I have heard of this discussion before and i do believe he does it but you have to have
Fender Tag, Build Sheet, Door VIN, and a Valid Title and he will remake one but not without a price!

where I`m at you can have the car inspected by the cops , they will check the serial # from the body stampings & verify the car is clean [ not stolen] & they have the authority to issue a replacement serial # but it is not the same # it originally had, just an arbitrary sequence #  but at least you can licence the car again
