I'm not big into anymore. On Speed Vision (before they made it a premium cable channel) I would be late to work watching all the older races from teh alte 60's and early 70's.  Now it is nothing but fake cars.  I don't know why I bother, but I still TiVo it.  I jsut happened to come home and it was like 8 laps to go so I said I'll ride it out.
NHRA is fun to watch.

When I saw the title of the thread, I had just read the moon landings one... I thought you were going to say that NASA faked NASCAR races too. ::)

I pull for the DODGE Cars mostly.  The term STOCK Car does not exist any more.... there is not a darned thing Stock, and no true test of the car, but anyway... throw out a Drag Race over nastycar any day.

even a local circle trac would be more fun. :blah:

You know, I litteraly grew up in the pits of midwestern dirt tracks, and spent 6 years in a 1/4 midget myself. However, now, when I go to a dirt track or circle track race, I can hardly keep my eyes open I'm so bored. Now, if I go to a drag race, or car show, I can always find something to do. And, even though I'm married, I'd much rather look at the girls at the drag strip than the ones at the dirt track. NASCAR just reminds me to much of our government. The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing, and both are motivated by money, and could care less about the people that it serves.

i think i would have like nascar back in the day when it was much closer to actually being a stock car race, not a car built only for racing with some stupid headlight stickers and the name of a production vehicle car. Car company's can't go by the win on sunday sell on monday motto anymore.

:iagree:  I liked it also as 68 A said it, when they used to be stock cars, not these fiberglass/whatever material they use now.

Those don't like Chargers, Fusions, etc. like what you see on the street.  They all have the same general aerodynamic shape.

I liked it when they took a factory car, gutted it then raced it for what it's worth.  You could buy a car that you could imagine circling the track.

If the big 3 really wanted a car to do well on the track, they had to engineer it into thier cars for the street.

If I remember correctly, I think Ford starting with thier '83 T-Bird had a great aerodynamic design that helped it do really well.  Sorry about the plug for Ford!
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
