I need to get the dashpad restored or replaced for my 70 Challenger. Just wanted to know what options there are available in the U.S. and some idea of price. :feedback:
Cheers Paul  :nzflag:

Paul,

Welcome to the guy that knows all to much here.  :banghead: My car originally had a cap on it. It looked nice, but I just couldn't stand the plastic feel of the dash. Maybe I'm too picky?  :dunno: I finally bit the bullet to have a real honest 70 dash. I hope you are sitting down when you see the price.  :grinyes: You will have to do some trimming around the gauges, and A.C. vents, if you have them. Other than that, I am SOOO happy with it. I have an honest dash pad now!!!  This did the trick for me.   :2thumbs: Oh... the little catch here is you have to send them a core. It could be a total pice of junk with all padding removed, and that will work.

Paul,

Year One sell them from $825 for a black pad to $707 - $932 for other colours and speaker, A/C set ups.
Shipping to New Zealand via EXPRESS shipping is around $300 USD (2-5 days) plus any customs, which you may or may not get depending. Sometimes items sneak through without being hit with clearance $$$.

I'm calling the previous owner of my 'Cuda back in about 10-15 minutes as he said there is now a place in New Zealand called, "PG Classics" or something (what I am finding out) that restore these dash pads. I'll let you know ASAP.

I myself got a Year One pad for Lucy, looks really good but that depends on what one they send you. Some have really bad stitches in them, wavy and wonky and like mine some don't line up to the dash mouldings too well.

Cheers,
Carl

Another option is Just dashes they will re-skin your dash for you for about 1K. That way you get your dash back.

There was an article in Mopar Muscle back in Feb.

Paul, I found out who they are. The guy said he has seen their dash pads in person for a Challenger/Cuda and they were simple amazing, looked brand new. I would definitely take this route if I were you. They do LHD conversions which is why they're good at this work. They also do consoles, arm rests interior re-colouring etc....

Dash Board Restorations
Glen Eden

They advertise in the Petrol head magazine usually on the back page.
The guy said they cost around $700 which is about 1/2 the price of doing the overseas option.
