what day were the last 340's made

That would be almost impossible to find out.My chally was built in october of 72,which is close to the end of the model year but i am sure there were more built even later in the year.You would have to poll every 73 dodge plymouth owner to find out.

Probably not, remember, you could find them in Marine applications in the late 70's.........
This one came out of a 73 Duster, I think.
When did chrysler change to the 74 model years? Or will we ever know?
My 74 Dually was manufactured in july of 74, but trucks may be different.

Did they change in August of the year prior to the model year? 

For example the '74s started being made in Aug. '73.
