muscle machines magazine
« on: July 04, 2006 - 05:51:34 AM »
I picked up a copy of Muscle Magazines (June 06) last nite at Borders.. interesting reading.. one of the topics is "Mopar Mania"... how long can it last?   Also has a 2006 Mopar price guide.  For $3.99 it was worth picking up..It also has stories about a 69 dodge daytona and a dodge demon..  Have a safe and happy 4th of July!!

I picked that one up too.  I found it entertaining but the price guide did come up short.

Nice pictures though

I only bought it when a friend tolod me my car was in it. I like the fact they cover what "mainstream" might not, but the info there does tend to be less accurate. I've since bought it a few times.

I think it is. I have been getting it from day one. It is the best magazine out there for an all around car guy. It covers cars that others wouldn't even think about, and I get at least six magazines a month. :2cents:

That's a lot of magazines. That's over 72 magazines a year. I would have trouble finding time to read them all. :clueless:

I love Hemmings Muscle Machines.  Worth every penny.  THE voice of reason and sense in our hobby.  Hemmings is THE authority on vintage or classic cars.  Always has been, always will be.  They were experts in this hobby before any of us were in this hobby, since before this hobby really WAS a hobby!

[rant on]

They are also one of the only publications that are smart enough to call BULL on the crazy prices.  Remember the Ferrari frenzy in the eighties?  In case you missed it, it was the same thing as hemicuda mania is today.  (Before you sink that retirement fund into a vintage Mopar, talk to someone who was involved in Ferrari speculation back then... a few years later it all came crashing down, and prices never recovered.  And never will.)

Hemmings was right there, called BULL on it, and were proven right over the years.  It is a shame to see every one of the other mags agreeing with and helping fuel the price frenzy, while at the same time lamenting how "regular guys" are getting priced out of the hobby....  Uhh, hey, magazine editors: When you print stories about people paying $100k+ for cloned Mopars, and you DON'T ridicule the buyers and call them out for the IDIOTS they are, then it's your own damn fault you can't afford an E-Body on a magazine writer's salary.

[rant off]

I get Mopar Action, Mopar Muscle, Mopar Collector's Guide, Auto Restorer, Cars & Parts, Hemmings, Hemmings Muscle Machines, MuscleCar Enthusiast, and of course Car Craft and Hot Rod.  That gives me plenty to do in the 'throne room'...

Cudacharlie hit the bullseye right on! I have gotten that magazine since issue #1 and I actually jump up in the air when I see a new issue in my mailbox. Excellent reading.  :worshippy

Car and Driver used to be my favorite (since the early 80's) before it became an place for more advertising and bland writing.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.
