In Ohio ,street racing is mandatory impound. That's more than good enough ,they don't need to take it up a notch.Just thinking about what happens to a car in an impound lot is enought to slow me down.Crushing a car for racing is damn near the same as cutting a hand off for stealing.A bit harsh. There are more than enough laws currently in place ,it's a matter of enforcment. Also there are places shutting race tracks down to deter street racing. That's some twisted logic ,to take away the only legal venue. Two facts will always remain ,people will race ,and ricers will find ways to break our hearts  If I had money falling out of my rear I'd like to put up a 24/7 track.Pull in ,lay down your cash ,let the car do the talkin'  :burnout:

I`m lucky I have a place to race only ten minutes away.If they took that away there would be way more street racing around here.I hate to see ricer days scheduled at the track but at least they are helping to keep it off the streets.

nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law

Due process is a little more applicable in this instance. However, without a specific, rigid standard for what is street racing and what is not street racing, all this is at the discretion of the arresting officer. In addition, the due process clause traditionally refers specifically to the norms and customs surrounding the other legal protections of criminal defendants (trial by jury, habeus corpus, etc.)

Therefore, the 14th amendment, in this situation is the most applicable. This subjective standard, based on an officer's observations, does not provide all parties who may be affected by such legislation with equal protection under the law - amendment 14, section 1 - "nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Since the law would be applied subjectively by a multitude of observers (police officers), this legislation denies the populace equal protection under law. Whether it be state, which is limited by the constitution via the practice of incorporation, or the federal government, which is inherently limited by the commerce clause (but has used the elastic clause in the past 120 years to grossly overstep their boundaries), this BLATANTLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL legislation cannot, should not, and will not be enacted.

But, since you are in Canada... :dunno:

Nope... ::rant on:: those Ivy League jerks rejected me. Guess my 1500 SAT score, Eagle Scout and Governor's Scholar credentials (amongst others) weren't enough for those arrogant bastards.

Princeton - I was deferred Early Decision, then ultimately rejected. Rejected from Dartmouth, Yale and UPenn also. (Didn't apply to Cornell, Brown, Harvard and Columbia). Also Georgetown and Vassar. Waitlisted at Emory and Colgate. All the rest that I applied to, though, gave me generous scholarships.

This year was a strange year. Between the number of kids applying and the sheer number of schools most kids apply to... this just wasn't the year.

Here's a statistic to put things in perspective. Dartmouth recieved applications from 2,200 people with perfect scores on one or both sections of the SAT (myself being one of them - 800 verbal) They accepted total 2,150 students. Now, this is not to say that I am one of 50 kids out of that pool rejected, as they obviously took students with less than perfect SATs, but it just gives you an idea of the competition this year. If you didn't have an extracurricular like "fights crime afterschool using high-tech self invented weaponry while wearing a bat costume", you weren't getting into an Ivy. That's just how bad its gotten. And... don't even get me started on affirmative action. ::rant off::

Rant aside, I am attending the University of Maryland - College Park on a nice scholarship. I liked the school because it was near DC (inside the beltway) without being in the city. In addition, their Government and Politics program is very strong. In addition, since I am still considering a transfer, it was the best balance of a good program with affordability and access to presigious internships.

:scared: :scared: I know it's been getting tougher and tougher.  My son got a little nervous last year... pretty high SAT scores, lots of leadership stuff (he too was lacking super-hero experience).  He got deferred but was accepted into UGA.    The University of Maryland will fortunate to have you!

That wouldnt work so well. Because if that did happen there would only be 3 main brands left to choose from, aside from euro cars (and I know people like choice - except on some issues, but Im not gonna bring those up 'cause I know it will start a big argument).

Japanese cars are awesome.

There's a reason they sell so well. American cars have been fairly uninspired in the past... I dunno... 20 years.

American cars are starting to come back again in my opinion. The new Mustang is hot. The Challenger and the Camaro. It's a good time.

Not really. This weeekened my mum is using a nissan bluebird(Jap) as a loan car while hers is getting fixed, and its horrible. It makes weird creaking groaniong noises and vibrates sometimes as you drive down the road. Its also very loud. Before that, she was using some newer nissan (which they took back because they wanted to do some work on it) and It was so loud that she thought it was a diesil (sp). Both of these cars have driven/sounded worse than our 10 year old VS commodore (australian) even when it was playing up (some problem with the computer.

My opinion on this subject is that we ALL need to stand together; Mopar, Chevy, Ford, imports, etc.....If we allow the Feds (your government) to take one persons car for supposed racing, due to laws that have been passed, whats to stop the cops from determining that you werent racing and impound your car. I remember quite a few years ago an article in a magazine said that polluting factories were buying up old cars and having them crushed for "credit points" from the EPA. I feel at some point, the lawmakers will find a way to ban all cars older than 20 or even 30 years old. We must all stand together and fight this type of thinking in our governments and help educate our legislators, diffcult as the task may be.

In general new Japanese cars are more reliable than American ones. It's just a fact. I'm not saying that all Japanese cars are prefect and all American cars are shoddy pieces of crap.

Actually, this year, consumer reports' top 10 reccomended car list was entirely Japanese for the first time ever. Honda had 5 in the top 10 (if you count Acura, which is their US luxury brand). Many of these are MADE in America (my Acura TL is made in the US), but all are Japanese engineering. Even Nissan technically made the list with the Infiniti G35 (Infiniti is Nissan's luxury US brand).

And, once again, Lexus (a.k.a. Toyota) tops the list in reliability.

The new Nissan GTR looks awesome too. It's basically the new Skyline for the US market.

Japanese cars are generally well built. They never leak and most don't even use seals or gaskets they are that well built. More reliable than modern American cars as well. Just fact.

When it comes to styling it's just personal preference. I prefer European for Modern cars, Viper/Ram/Challenger being my only exception. Ferrari's, Mercades etc are nice cars.

The problem with Japanese cars IMO is the racers aka ricers who put crap on there cars: strobes, decals, wings, gauges NASA would be proud of, bad high impact colours....etc....Stock Japanese cars are quite good looking depending on what make. Nissan Skyline is awesome, heaps of them down here and they would basically blow any American car out of the water in stock trim with an easy 650hp+ only a few thousand away......

I think it's arrogant to simple say: "Jap cars are crap, end of story". You either know nothing about cars or it's a immature statement best suited from coming out of the mouth of a hat on backwards one minded punk.
