Yet another Missouri newbie
« on: July 05, 2006 - 02:04:00 PM »
I don't have a Cuda or Challenger at this point, just a dream, and a few memories of stories I've heard of my dad's 70 R/T. The dream, find a 70-74 basket case with a clean title. The car doesn't really have to be much at all. The end goal, tubbed, pro street, NHRA certified to at least 7 seconds, blown Indy of KB hemi. I've heard a few guys that I work with tell me I'm crazy for wanting to desecrate a car and fullfill my dream. That's one of my main reasons for wanting a basket case. Restoring something like that back to numbers matching would be rewarding, but it wouldn't be as much fun to drive. Part of my reason for wanting to build something like what I'm dreaming of is it will be my second chance to work on a "race car" with my Dad, and my first chance to do so with my son. Also, Camaros, and Mustangs are like imports and tampons, every p*$$! has on.  :2thumbs:

What part of MO would that be?

Find your dream, make your dream, then it's yours.  :clueless: I guess that made sence.

High Ridge, just south of STL. I'm actually about 5 minutes from Life Christian church, the place that Memories, I think that's the name of the club, has their monthly car show on the first Friday night of the month.

I like a good challenge. More than anything, I just want the chassis to be certified to 7 seconds for obvious reasons....500+ inch blown aluminum hemi. Better safe than sorry.

Welcome to the site. I'm just across the river in IL. Sounds like a interesting project which will set you back in the seat when you go down the track.

Thank ya...thank ya vury much.  ;D I know I'm going to catch alotta crap for this, but I've also got to make up my mind on the replacement for my Colorado. Quad Cab Ram, H3, or X Cab Sierra. If I can catch the price on the Ram low enough, I'll probably go that route. Time and money will tell.

Welcome to the site, ShutzhundGSD!!!  The build-up you have in mind sounds very cool!  You should check out member 528Hemi's '71 'Cuda, appropriately named "Blowfish".  I bet you'd fall in love with that ride as it's pretty wicked. :2thumbs:  As for your replacement for the Colorado, you should definitely get the Ram.  H3's are seen everywhere and are really just a rebodied Yukon, but with a higher price tag. :misbehaving:
1973 Dodge Challenger......................The ongoing project. (00/----\00)
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo....The sunny day cruiser (RTBoost)
1990 Toyota Celica GT Liftback...........The new daily & winter driver.
All-American Muscle: 'Cudas and Challengers...Still the Elite and always will be.

I'll deffinately check it out. My only concern, and it may just be one of those bad rumors is the life span of the front end on the new Rams. I think part of the reason for considering the H3 is that it's the Colorado undercarriage. The H2 is the Yukon. It's nice and all, but if I want that big behemoth, I'd go with the real deal.

I know this thing is a $100,000 Pro Mod, but this is kinda what sealed the deal for me to want to build a pro street E-body.
