tranny identification

im trying to figure out what year my 727 transmission is...it says A-727-B and the cast numbers are 2466900
                                                                                                                                   5
it is attached to a 66' 440 ...im assuming that it is the same year....any help
i think that it is blown..will any 727 66-72 fit it?....

I think you are right, it would have been a mid year 64 trans. 2466100+ were used for early 65 models (correct me if I'm wrong people). And yes you can fit basically any 727 to your 440.

Look on the driver's side pan flange, there should be a bunch of stamped numbers, they will tell us more.

If you do not use this one, you will need another 727-B, if you see a 727-A it is a small block trans.
