Scarebird front disc brakes - wheel combo
« on: July 09, 2006 - 07:57:13 AM »
I have run into a fitment problem with my front Scarebird disc brake setup. I am (trying) to use 15X7 steel wheels that have 4.5" backspacing. The Scarebird setup uses a large GTO caliper and it binds up with the steel wheels. Is anyone using the Scarebird setup with Rallye wheels? I believe the Rallyes have a 4.25" backspacing and that extra 1/4" just may be enough.
Thanks

GTO caliper? I talked to the guys at scarebird about 2 months ago and they said they were using cuda caliper from the 70-74 years. They said when they were selling the kit with silverado calipers the mopar guys would buy them because they had to use GM parts. Please post how well they work because I am installing there kit this winter.

They may have changed it because of the fit. The instruction sheet (as of 05 March 05) calls for 1969-1972 GTO front calipers. They're large single piston units. The outside diameter isnt the problem, it's the width.

You must have the older style adapter (the good ones) they claim that the setup you have has much better clamping force, they just could sell them. If they don't work out let me know I will buy that adapter set posibly. On to your problem can you grind a little of the caliper to get it to fit? I already ground off tabs and even some of the body to get calipers to fit.
