Man, he sure is lucky. A shame he had to shot it.....
We are in their domain and they should be respected. Wish the bear lived but, what can ya do.
A bear, a shark, good thing he did shoot, it, Polar bears eat people as it is, this one would have eaten another.
A polar bear in the Yukon? AM i crazy, or is that a little to low for a polar bear to be? Next, I'll have to put steel bars in my igloo windows!
I found the comments below the pictures more discusting than the pictures, and went away feeling less inelligent. Bear attacks are serious buisness.
In reply to NZ's comment. You are right, Bears deserve our respect, and they get it. Not very many people go looking for bears, for trouble. Some hunt them, I never would, they don't taste that great, and the claws get stuck in my teeth.
But, when a animal attacks a sleeping human, it is them or you. I do know I would have shot the bear too, if given the chance, but, it would have taken more of a man than me, to be able to kill the animal after such a horrible attack, most would have given up, and been eaten. Kudo's to the guy who survived that. And remember, always carry a gun in bear country, unless you would like to be lunch.
I bet some others from Alaska remember the Bear that tok off with a five year old girl, while her mom, and dog were walking, very sad, and also, the guy who left his wife on the roof of they're cabin, to go get help, and returned to find her eaten...........
