Seems to be about as rare as the M46 optioned Barracuda.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Coupe. Actually they're both technically called coupes in 1971. The Deputy marketing gimmick never really took off. I think the only reference I have to it is in an old Dodge News magazine.

Hey Wally,

Imagine your car did not have the two fender tags and nearly had zero options and you could not wind down the rear quarter windows because their is no mechanism or window winder in the rears.  I am talking the very base model.  So not much different to what you already have.....................NOT. :poopoke: :smilielol:

1971 Barracuda   (O O {]{]{]|[}[}[} O O)
1970 Challenger  (O O [======R/T=] O O)
1971 Challenger  (O O ===== ===== O O)

Yes. The Deputy was a play off of the Dodge Sheriff ads being used for the Challenger. Though it had a few less features than the regular Challenger, you could still load it up with options. They had their own specific steering wheels, interior trim and fixed rear windows.

I found a car with the A93 on the tag.  It is a 71 Challenger.  I did not even know to look at the rear quarter windows to see if they were still fixed or not.  I just copied the fender tag and started decoding and saw the a93.

It is a six cylinder car with auto.  But it was not as stripped down as you would think.  It had buckets and console.  Also has G15 tinted windshield.  It also had R11 radio.  But it did have V78 stripe delete.

I need to check it out some more.  It may be a neat car to restore.

The A93 is an entire package. It's was a way for Dodge to advertise a super low base price. There were B-body Plymouth Satelite and Charger A93's.

-fixed rear windows. Coupe. window crank hole is plugged
-base 198 /6. The 225 was base engine in the regular Challenger
-no day nite rearview mirror
-no cigerette lighter
-cheaper std barracuda-like seat pattern
-black rimmed steering wheel instead of woodgrain steering wheel. There are two different textures; IIRC for 70 then 71
-lighter duty battery

I think some other detail stuff.

A93's are out there, but most as you see have been cloned into other cars.

They are not worth any more than any other Challenger or Barracuda. Unless it was a 383-4 4spd or 3spd car. They made those. That car could be worth a little more than a regular Challenger 383-4 4spd/3spd car. Nothing too earth shattering though.

Wow this thread has been around a long time.  Here is a pic of my deputy unrestored sitting in my garage.  I bought it a long time ago minus the engine and trans (198cid w/ 1-barrel).  I have been buying parts for years and plan to finally start working on it.  Life kinda of got in the way…college, wife, kids (3)……   I plan on repainting it the original EV2 color and have a 340 engine to put in it.
