Hemi Small Block Heads
« on: July 11, 2006 - 11:32:40 AM »
I saw the place selling small block hemi heads at Carlisle. After I stopped drooling on myself, I started wondering what the issues with these might be. Anybody know anything about them, or better yet have experience with them?

I guess that would help.

HP Performance Products

I just took a look but didn't see any mention of small block heads. They had a sign that said "Turn any 318, 340 or 360 into a hemi." I wonder if they were just being metaphorical, like "You'll have power like a Hemi."

I thought about that last night when I was looking at the page, and that could be the answer. What they were showing didn't look like the new Hemi heads to me, but I only looked for a few seconds.

So I'm not crazy. Or at least no crazier than I thought I was before Carlisle.

Thanks, Chryco. Do you know anything about them?

NO, these are NOT the new 5.7 hemi heads. I saw these guys at carlisle also, saw them last year too. They have a head that bolts on to the small block, not sure what head it is, but its a hemi head. Definitly not the 5.7/6.1

I don't remember the name of the company making the heads, but they have been out for at least a couple of years now. I seem to remember the conversion being pretty expensive too! The heads were based on the old 392 Chrysler head, as opposed to the 426 or new 5.7/6.1 hemis. Come to think of it, the small block conversion came out shortly before the new hemis.

There was a company making them for big blocks called Stage V. I don't know if they still are though, Their website hasn't been updated since 2001.

They sure are selling them for a fortune! If I was going to put that kind of money in an engine,I'd just go buy a 426 hemi crate,or a new hemi crate SB from Ma Mopar
