ARRRG! Can't get this junk off!

Since I'm on the "posting for help" kick.......
   I need to know the easiest way to get this 34 years worth of gunk off my glass.  The only thing I've done that even remotely works is a razor blade, but I have to scrape so hard I'm afraid I'm going to scratch the glass.

Thanks man, I feel like a dummy now. I tried some rubbing compound, some goo off, industrial window cleaner, nothing.  I know which way to go now! (besides crazy)

Don't feel bad ,I went through the same thing.I just happened to have a bottle in the garage as I was trying everything I could
