Hood Pins (yes/no)
« on: July 16, 2006 - 09:19:56 AM »
I'm at the end of the resto project for my '70 Challenger R/T and I have to decide if I want hood pins. (The holes are not in the hood.) I'm not planning on doing any racing so I don't think it is a question of functionality. Comments or input appreciated.   :clueless:

Yes, the extra chrome makes it look nice.

It's purely a matter of taste. I've been contiplating it since my hood is a T/A clone. It's just the thought of drilling holes in it.  :scared:  :scared:  :scared:

To each his or her own but IMO I don't care for the hood pins.

 :iagree:

If your car came with them then you have no choice but I think they only look right on 6 BBL liftoff or TransAM type hoods.

I kinda like the locking ones on Torred's car though  ;)

If you are going for the factory look, then yes, but if you dont care, then some people feel they mess up the clean lines of the hood. My car does not have them or the driving lites or antenna either to keep the front end clean.

I like the hood lines kept as clean as possible and I also don't think that I could drill holes in a perfect hood. But at the end of the day it's your car and your call, I learned a long time ago when it comes to your car you have to do what makes you happy without a great deal of regard for other opinions.  :2cents:

Hood pins... Hell yes!
I didn't have them in mine, but always liked them.
I'd go to car shows and people would always ask why it didn't have them.
I added them on and love them! I think they add a nice touch and they certainly make the car look more aggresive.
Without the hood pins, you might as well just put barracuda emblems on the car.  :2cents:

Compare the  two pictures below.....with and without.

On green, I'd say no. Not without a hood blackout anyway.

My car came with them from the factory and when I restored it I did away with them(boxed them) If you are going to do any driving over 100mph put them on dont know if its jusy my hood or what but at around 110 the sides of my hood start lifting and at 140 they are up almost 1 1/2 inches, a little unnerving so I put my hood pins back in. the only problem I have now is while I didnt have my liscense and my father in law had the car he threw away the original pins and lanyards, so I have some aftermarket ones on now.
