:wow: I`m surprised with all the no responses as I always thought hood pins were right up there with Shaker hoods and Go-wings,they just belong on a musclecar!

I agree, my 73 that I'm currently working on restoring doesn't have them but I am having a hard time not putting them on before the car gets painted next year.

My  :2cents: :

Should have made a poll - Yes, add them.

Doesn't matter if you don't race it's merely a precaution. I only added them because if that latch decideds to fail, it won't but stranger things have happened, I don't want to be doing 70mph and see the hood slam back against my window. Besides they look cool........

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thanks for all the input!  :worshippy

I think I will hold off on the hood pins until the car is totally finished. Then make a final decision.

The hood is perfect so it is a tough decision. The car did originally have the pins but I can add them anytime and it's not a number matching show car.

The car will have the R/T side stripe and hood black out.  That should be done this week. I will post more pics next weekend.

Thanks again,
Jim

Don't forget to touch up that radiator support. Paint it black.
Black is correct, but, correct or not it looks 100 times better and you will thank me/us later.  :2thumbs:

This is one bad grille with the radiator support left body colour, sticks out like a sore thumb.  :eek4:
Compare that to mine below and you'll see the difference as mine is painetd black all behind it.

Keep us up to date Jim.

I'd say yes, but that's purely from my personal preference for them.  I plan on having a T/A style hood on my '73, so it's only natural to have some pins added for the "cool factor." :2thumbs:

I am completing my shaker hood this week and plan to add hood pins. :2thumbs: Anyone have a "how-to" on this? I might do one if no one else has...

I'd like to see a how to on this as drilling holes in my new T/A hood makes me nervous and the Body Shop Manager said they were going to take my car in in 2-3 weeks  LOL  Time to strip it down!
Tom

BTW  YES on the hood pins

I am installing them and locking them as it is security for me. You only need to lose one 340 air cleaner once.....I don't have a interior lock mechanism

For you guys that are putting them on now, or already put them on, I would appreciate a "how to".  :worshippy  Do you have a template to work with, or do you just eye-ball it? Also, where did you get the hood pins? What length lanyards(I think I spelled that right  :clueless: ).

We had the locking hood pins on our car when we bought it.  We had heard stories about people who had engine fires and couldn't get their hood opened quick enough (if at all) with the locking hood pins. We decided to go with the lanyard style pins so we could just pull it and not have to fiddle with keys in case of emergency.  Just food for thought...
