The girls beat a 5.slo
« on: July 21, 2006 - 09:40:07 PM »
My daughter and I were driving home from Carlisle , last year. Carlisle has quite a few lights. I'm sitting at a light and this black 5.slo Mustang pulls up beside me. The light changes and he's banging gears and catching rubber . Well the mustang continues to do this at the next 4 lights. I'm just sitting there ignoring him. Didn't want to be a bad influence on my daughter. So she looks at me and says " Mom, are you really gonna let that guy get away with that "  Well, No. So, I give him the nod. Pull it back in 1st. And stand on it when the light changed. Shifted in to 2nd and the band broke. So I pushed it into 3rd and still smoked him. I stopped at the next light and looked in my rear view. He was hiding his face with his hand and hitting his brakes, trying not to come up beside us. Well, It was a long light and he ends up sitting beside us. He's still hiding his face. So my daughter says " Hey dude " And he looks over and she says " Give it up , you don't even own a muscle car " I was laughing so hard. Then, I pulled into a mini mart and this kid in a Focus was behind us. He comes up to me and says " Hey how much gas did it take for you to beat that Mustang" What ? And he repeats it. So I told him to go hug a tree. But it did cost me $600 to get the trans fixed. But it was so worth it.

You should have called me - I still have a bunch of partial rebuild kits here for 727s and 904s that we probably could have rebuilt the whole thing for next to nothing in a day.

btw, are the brakes still acting funky?

Mark, Yep the brakes are still pulling. I go on day shift in about a week and will get off at 1pm everyday. So I'll call you and bring it down so you can look at it, ok.

This guy probably works pennies and will always work for pennies.

Thanks it was fun. I have no idea why the kid asked me that. I just thought who would ask something like that, but a tree hugger.

I had soemthing similar about 20 years ago. i was running stop lights in my Challenger when a guy in an Omni Miser (remember those?) pulled up beside me. It was summer, and I have no AC, so the windows were rolled down. He yelled out "You just used as much gas from the last light to this one as I did from Washington DC to Leesburg." I said "Yeah, but I had more fun."

"She'll make point five past light speed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, and I've made a lot of special modifications myself."

Regarding being a bad role model, I think that that was when you should do like the guuy in the Mustang commercial and say "Remember, this is not a toy ... wanna go again?"  ;D

That's great :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol: She made me taking her cruisin the circuit a couple Friday's ago. Cause her Mom is cool. lol  A kid in a newer Mustang asked if I wanted to trade him cars. So, Shelby says why would she want your car , she already beat a Mustang.
