Well it's all about personal preferences, you can build a power added or a normally aspirated combo that will put your car at any performance level you choose, it's all about the combo and your budget. To me it boils down to your goals for the car and what I like concerning the maintainance schedule, appearance, and performance. For a drag only car I prefer NA engines, consistant and simple, build them once with good parts, run the snot out of them. For a commonly driven street car I like either 100% stock appearing pump gas NA motor, MAYBE with a sneaky NOS 150 shot hidden somewhere for those moments when your starting traction is limited and you need a little "catch up" boost to catch your opponant at the end of the run. Then finally for an all out Bad Boy occasionally driven street car, a full on pump gas roots blower setup (likely sitting on a Hemi). Typically way too much power to actually usen without a really good chassis setup and slicks, but ALWAYS a pleasure to stomp around in and if built right can be low maintainance as well.
A fully tuned sorted out dedicated single 4 barrel NOS motored car will likely rule the street/track when stacked against any of the above, however the "I have a 2002 LT1 Camero with NOS that runs 8's on pump gas in street trim" stories bore me to tears.
