rebuilding 70 RT chally
« on: July 28, 2006 - 06:01:34 AM »
Hi Guys,

I finally brought my Chally home, I still dont have a garage for her, but a car port will have to do. Its been about 12 months since I was able to work on her.
I found a new job working in a mopar resoration shop in Aus, I am there body man and painter working on chrysler all day. :woo: :bananasmi
Better than all the new car rubbish.
So far I have changed the drivers full front floor, inner rear wheel houses left and right,
full trunk floor left and right, both lower rear inner quarters.
I hand made some new rear frames both sides and made half a rear tail light panel from sheet metal. The new quarters are almost ready to go on.
But before I can do that I have to change the right hand front floor, both inner front fenders
and hand make a new left hand front frame, well thats what Iam up to next, i hope to do some on the weekend .

DAYUM!!! I thought I had my chally torn down pretty far when I was replacing a bunch of the rotted/rusty metal. I'd be worried I'd never be able to get anything to line back up if I took it that far down without having any original reference lines to guide me.

Was this car completely rusted out back or did it get rear ended in an accident?

It wasnt rear ended, it had alot of small rust holes, eg lower quarters in and out and boot floor. The tail light panel was damaged and a little rusty.
But I am a panel beater spraypainter buy trade so not that hard really, just time consuming.
My motto is have welder can fix just about anything.
I have already tried the quarters on all good gaps .

Awesome work mate  Keep the  :working:  :picture: coming

Working back to front will give solid straight panel alignment for the fenders, grille, etc. :thinkerg:

I wasn't trying to question YOUR work or abilities and I sincerely hope you didn't take it that way. It's just my abilities that I have the problem with. :icon16:

It's looking very nice so far. How many hours do you have in it?

Hi Guys,

gomopar440 its cool
I think its been about 12 days  solid on the Chally so far.
I spent about six  hours on her today, I took the hole front end out, cross member and suspension.
I drilled out the right front floor, left front inner fender and trimed the left hand front
frame ,ready to make a new one from 2.2mm flat steel.
I hope I can work on her tomorrow :working:
