Not really a newbie, just haven't been around for awhile.
« on: July 29, 2006 - 09:03:49 PM »
I got stopped in my tracks due to my father inlaw getting cancer. My wife and I were taking care of him. He passed away on July 2. So it's been quite a few months since I've posted anything. So, here's my story, the first time I bought my 73 cuda was in 1985 for $600. I didn't have enough money so my wife (then my girlfriend) lent me the rest. It had a 318 w/ TF904, 2.73 single traction rear. It was pea green, green interior, green vinyl top. I then changed it to 340 w/ TF727, 3.55 posi, red w/ 340 hockey stripes, black interior, black vinyl top. Well, when I got married, I sold the car to buy a house. :faint: I kept track of where it was for 18 years, it was easy considering it was sitting in the woods for 14 years. I told the guy that had if he ever wanted to sell it to call me.The car was sold for $700.  :pullinghair: So I found out where it went and decided to go after it. I pulled $3000 out of the bank, but I couldn't talk to the guy until Saturday because I worked 2nd shift and he worked 1st. Friday was our anniversary, and my wife was talking to this guy all that week trying to buy the car back. I was in the dark! She finally got him to sell it for $2000. A friend of ours picked it up with his roll back and dropped it off at our house, Friday night. When I got home from work, I pulled in the driveway and the outside lights were flicked on. There it was with happy anniversary across the windshield and a bunch of balloons tied to it. :woo: Now its in my garage stripped down to a shell with one quarter cut off. I think thats about all. :faint:

Now it's on jack stands with no rear and the drivers side quarter cut off. I have 2 loose fitting quarters from Year One. Now I'm trying to scrape money together for the rest of the rear pieces I need (full trunk pan, trunk extensions, both outer wheel houses, and possibly an inner wheel house). :working:

Welcome (back), ReturnofCuda!

Sorry to hear about your father in law.

Love the story.  Actually like a man's romance novel!  :roflsmiley:

That would get me in the mood if the wife had a Cuda with a bow on it in the drivewawy for me one night!

Looked great and it'll look greater when yer done!  :2thumbs:
