Shaker Hood Cables?? Bell Crank Needed?
« on: July 31, 2006 - 11:55:23 AM »
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I have everything for my shaker setup except for the cables and some misc stuff. I am confused about the cable setup... :clueless:

I see the under hood and under dash to firewall cables....but is that all I need to hood the air doors up correctly? I have also seen a "bell crank" that looks like it actually functions as leverage between these two cables...but only see one vendor that carries it. Is this necessary or am I missing something?

Who anyone who has a correct functioning setup please show me what I am missing  :worshippy... PICS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL!!

you need the 2 cables + the belcrank to work as per factory , as the cold air door opens the warm air ,underhood , door closes  with the belcrank

does anyone have any diagrams or pics of how exactly this hooks up? Is this only for a six pack setup?

The bell crank is avail through Ben Snobar at ShakerHood.com. He sells it for 150.00... kinda steep but for an orginal car I would spend the money. me... I can't afford that at this moment...

He is the only vendor who sells them. Gene Gregory makes them as well but won't sell one unless you buy the entire adapter ring it's welded to. I have one of Bens and an original, there are minor cosmetic differences between it and my original but generally they are good quality and work fine.

Scott... thank you for clearing that up. I am not too concerned about absolutely originality...especially since I can't afford Gene's repop...I too would be interested in buying one of yours (if you are selling) or maybe you could give me some dimensions on the original one and I could rig something up myself... :stirpot:

When I get home next week I'll do some dimensional drawings and post them for you guys who want to fabricate something functional. If you want something that will work but don't care if it looks correct you should'nt have much trouble building a good part with common hardware store parts. I don't have anything for sale at this point.
