Test drive...
« on: August 01, 2006 - 06:04:38 AM »
My '70 Challenger was not quite finished last Saturday but the restorer said "If you want, take it for a couple of days and make a punch list." He had already put 100 miles on it, made some adjustments and deemed the car mechaically sound. So I grabbed the opportunity to take it home for a few days.

There is a bunch of minor things to take care of. Maybe a couple days work. I'll drop it back tomorrow and hope to pick it up for the final time on Saturday. I'll take more pictures then.

Thanks all. Yes it is hard to take her back for sure.  :(  I'll spend the day at the shop learning a bit more and doing some of the things I can do myself. This is my first re-entry into the muscle car scene since my teens ('68 Charger R/T). Maybe the next car I will try to do myself. With the help available here and the documentation of this car's journey I think it is doable!  :grinyes: Now if I can just convince the wife  :naughty:

Did I love it? Absolutely! For a 383 the engine is very strong and has a nice low rumble. The feel of the pistol grip is just as I remember (high school buddy had this same car). The black vinyl seats burn the back of my legs when left in the sun and I realize how spoiled I have been driving cars with a/c! I LOVE IT. IT'S FANTASTIC!   :smokin:

I'll have some more pics this coming weekend.

Sweet looking ride Judgester!     Glad it runs like you want it to, and I hope the punch list is short and you have her back soon....   :cooldancing:

Man, that's a beautiful car! You've gotta be a getting a lot of attention with it ( and probably loving every minute of it, too! )
