You really have your work cut out for you but looks like you have a handle on the big stuff so the small stuff should come easy. Keep us posted with pictures of your progress.

Thanks for the input!

It's nice to see the learning curve I have had. This is the first car I have ever touched with a mig welder and the first repairs I did about a year ago are kinda poor and shabby but getting better all the time. For the rust issues, I have to bow for the clown because if comparing my car to his, I'm just buffing up the paint.

I have almost the same path to follow that you are on right now. But first I need a rotisserie.
I plan to buy one this week at the SEMA show.

hehe, The pics on steerchallenged avatar (or whatever it is called) always makes me think about working harder to get the car done. I just love the plum crazy! Going to get the paints tomorrow! (long way to go before I can actually paint but need to get the paints before next year). I'll try to post some more pics tonight or tomorrow morning. Its been over a week I was working with the car. Had to rest for one weekend and also keep the 'girlfriend who understands'=priceless (quote from dark horses project) happy

Progress. First pic is scenery of what it will be for the next 6 months  :violin:

I was so hurry during that weekend and didn't take many pictures, so lots of steps I did were not captured. I had deadline to get the underneath of ds quarterpanel ready for paint in one day so I could get it painted during that weekend.

Rust had attacked the frame of quarter window pretty hard and I had to repair some very strange areas there and also fix the c pillar I had already started.

The inner wheelwell was in pretty good shape. I only did couple of small repairs to the outside lip and back where it connects the trunk extension.

Next one on the repair list was alligning the side of the trunk extension (I had already repaired it and remanufactured the top for it) with the quarterpanel and to get it welded in and finally get the trunk area ready.

At this point the weldings for that area were pretty much done and I grounded most of the seams. I couldn't reach and ground all of the seams but those aren't visible anyway so I just cleaned them up. I did some slight sand blasting again to get the flaking rust away and also removed the paint from wheel well etc and prepped the area for painting. I don't have any good pic from that work. One I got is after first bucket of sand.

At the time I was shooting the por the temp was -3 celcius  :scared: and I was bit scared if the paint would cure at all. It did cure but took pretty long time (4-5 hours or so before dust dry) and I had to leave back to Tampere before I could shoot another layer so there is only one layer atm. I might shoot one more layer during next weekend if the temp stays near 0 celcius.

I had one infra red heater and one heater fan to keep the surface of the car atleast bit warm while I was painting. After 3 days I called to my parents to check the paint out and it had cured rock hard, although I have no idea if it will stay on the metal. I'll need to check it out with knife or something.

I'm also going to do empiric test to see what kind of prepping new metal needs to get the por 15 adhere it. I have sanded the smooth surfaces with 180 grit sandpaper before painting but it seems that the adhesion isn't the best possible. Much better than smooth surface but could be better. I can't use the metal ready in all places so I'll try some things out and do some test painting. I'll report how it goes. If anyone has any suggestions or first hand knowledge, please inform me.
