Can I lift my engine with a lifting plate and RPM Intake 7193?

r u asking if u can pick your motor out with an aluminum intake? if so i don't see why not!but i like to use the head bolts!

But I wouldn't.    Call me old fashion but a chain on the intake manifold bolt holes and some long bolts work for me

We just installed my motor last week. I have an aluminum intake and no problems were encountered.  It went very smoothly with the lift plate bolted to the intake.

I was referring to using a lifting plate with studs put into the card mounting holes... then lifting the engine out using a hoist. I am afraid I am going to stress the aluminum too much or something...

I wouldnt hesitate to do it if I had a cast iron manifold but I havent done it on an aluminum intake before.

As a few guys mentioned, people do it all the time - aluminum intakes lifting full motors out with lifting plates. I'm just not one to trust 4 1/4-20 bolts in aluminum to hold my motor over my baby. I'll pop the intake off and use intake bolts. or use the bolts that are on the ends of the heads. just my .02cents. People do it all the time, but personally. i wouldnt.

Well...I decided to just do it.. I just got my engine off of the truck and loaded it onto a dolly and then moved it around. I think I will either use an old cast manifold when I load it up or use some of the head bolts when I have more time. thanks for everyones responses! You guys are helpful to say the least...

Edelbrock performer rpm on a 440 with trans attached. 4 - 5/16 18 bolts holding the lifting plate. No problem.

I did the same thing exactly...by myself...so I had it in the air a good while with a lot of shifting and bumping.

  I see that you got the 440 
I used the engine plate on your motor and use it to pull and move engines all the time. I have never had any troubles using it. Hope everything is good on the 440 and trans.

1/4-20 is the size of the air cleaner stud, carb studs are 5/16-18. I used a lift plate on my 392 hemi with a Hot Heads aluminum intake with no problems whatsoever. That engine weighs over 700 lbs., about 200 lbs. more than a small block and 100 lbs. more than a big block. I don't think you will have any problems using a lift plate. Do you think Mopar Performance would sell the crate hemis with a lift plate bolted to them if they weren't capable of doing the job? As law suit crazy as the people are in this country I seriously doubt it.

I'm sure if I calculated the stress on the small carb bolts it would be fine but I use the intake bolts too. If you use the carb plate at least don't use those cheap carb studs !  Use grade proper 5 bolts at minimum.
