help on my e.t times.
« on: August 04, 2006 - 08:22:12 PM »
hello all, not for sure where this should be posted, so sorry move it if i'm wrong. i raced my car at the 8th mile track, i was wondering if anybody could help me with the numbers, corrected to sea level altitude, and for a 1/4 track, i see these #s all the time and was just wondering what she would do in these conditions, i know there r lots of veriables but just want something close! i ran a 7.24 @98 mph with a 2.13 60 foot, with a 5.05 light my first time!(5.00 tree!) no slicks or stall i really think i need a stall to get the 60 foot down, and slicks will help. thanks for the help as usual !have a good day!

Not exactly sure what you are requesting, but will this help you out?  This is a race calculator--1/8 to 1/4.  Open it and scroll down a little.      :cooldancing:

Am I mistaken or are you running an estimated 11.31 1/4 mile. Dude, that's flying!!! I dont understand how your running a 2.13 60 ft. Aty 11.31 you should be at a 1.5 sec 60 ft. Juiced?

60ft should be MUCH better as mentioned. There is a lot left in your e/t, you need to get those first 60ft squared away.

yes i guess i am running that et!(i was shocked also!) and yes my 60ft should be way better, i didn't hit the juice until after the 60 ft mark, i have the stock stall, and bgf radials, so i had to leave at about 1700 r's i tried to power brake it higher, and it started to spin. it is real slow out of the hole and then it really takes off, juice or not, any sugestions? i need to dial my carb in alittle more, if i mash it, it bogs real bad, sometimes? and i know it may sound weird but that is what it run at the track, i have not had it back there they shut the track down, and i have moved and since tore the car apart to do the body work. i think it is the stall, tires, and some tuning. so what do i do to fix this?(or have i already answered it!) thanks

You'll need a rollbar setup if you go to the track again.  That's moving! :2thumbs:

How much nitrous are you running? And I hope your fuel system is up to par.

thanks first of all, i have an old plate system, with 150 jets ,mallory 150 electric fuel pump, just for the nos, a wide open switch on carb, an arming button in cab, that i can switch on and off, the only thing i might need to upgrade is to a return line back to the tank, so i have read. but i have had no problems knock on wood!

So ..... how do you know if your mixture is right? On my system I have an activation button on the shifter, you can use it for a purge button and to check your mixture settings you can tap it at idle in neutral.

If the RPM's go up instantly(after 1-2 taps to purge the line) the mixture is about right , if the RPM's go down then up it is probably too rich(need to lower fuel pressure).

You do have an adjustable fuel regulator on the system ... right?

If it is too lean you will usually burn a spark plug electrode off.

I think the two biggest problems on your 60 FT is torque converter and traction.
