70 dual snorkel air cleaners - need help with finish
« on: August 06, 2006 - 03:42:42 AM »
In the process of restoring my dual snorkel air cleaner and need some help with the correct finish as it was a 72-74 version.  I have the black satin wrinkle finish for the outside but don't know what finish was on the inside and areas that didn't get a wrinkle finish?  I'm guessing the inside was either a plain satin or gloss black but would like to know for sure.  Anyone confirm for me?

The 72-4 dual snorkle air cleaners are painted orange, non-wrinkle paint. The color is very close to the 70-1 engine block paint. Thats the correct color, not the mopar performance paint that is too light.

Thanks 70challrtse, so is yours original or restored?  Does the black wrinkle cover all external areas?  Thanks also hemi71, but my aircleaner was an orange 72-74 which I stripped to turn into a '70 version.

On all of mine it's always been wrinkle every where except on the inside.  Inside being bare metal.  I don't know if that's correct or not, just the way mine have been and how I've done them. :dunno:

I have one dual snorkel that is restored and one that I am not certain about. Both are wrinkle outside and satin and smooth inside. The unsilenced air cleaner on my 340 is the same way. Here is a pic of the 70 340.
