    I added the spacer today. But it didn't help much. I did get better. But it still dies out when I brake down to stop. But it almost dies the the ideal goes a little bit up again, and then dies. So I think the throttle valve, get to much vacuum so they complete lock down so the engine don't get any fuel. Can this happen? How can i prevent this?

    When I added the spacer I removed the old gasket and the metal plate that was there. It said in the manual that can with the spacer to do so. Oh, I didn't replace the studs, as the ones on were long enouth.

    Just found out that the Carburator is a 600 cfm (p/n 0-1850s). Is that to small on a 383 borred 0.30?

    That is pretty small  a 750 w/vacuum secondaries would work nice.  I'd still take a look at the exhaust block off under the intake.  Block it and it stops the hundreds of degrees of heat from getting to the base of the carb.   :wave:

    600 cfm is a little small for your engine.  I think a 750 would wake it up nicely.  I agree that if the heat crossover hasn't been blocked off, it would help your problem if you would install the intake gasket with the crossover blocked.  It would run much cooler in the intake area.  The trade off is slow warm ups in cold weather.  Just my 0.02....   :cooldancing:

    Never work to much with engines. This my first time removing and installing a carb.

    most part stroes can get the gaskets easily , part # 1214 Felpro , remove the itake , 8 bolts & the end rails 6 bolts & replace the pan under the intake

    Just so I have asked before I remove the intake. I have problems starting the 'cuda as well. I have to pump and pump the throttle when I turn the ignition. And then it almost "pops" several time before it fires up (not in the carb, but the exhaust). It doesn't matter if it's cold or warm. Could it be a vacuum problem in the carb? As some of the vacuum holes don't lokk proper sealed. Check the picture

    You can buy small rubber caps for the vac ports usually at the local parts store look in the "help" section.  I noticed that you dont have the pcv hooked up should run to intake(large plug at rear) or back of holley carb (large port on back).  Prob not related to gas issue though.

    What is pcv? Is that the hose from the vavle cover to the carb?

    Yes that runs to the valve cover and it looks like the port on the side.  It provides Positive Crankcase Ventilation and improves your piston ring sealing along w/burning off blow-by.  Most holley are on back but I have also seen them on side.  I think you can put in the back of intake as this is manifold vacuum also.  Do a google search on the benefits or wait for someone else to chime in here.  Good luck w/it.  This shouldn't really have anyhting to do w/boiling but may help you some other way :cheers:
