DRAG STRIP VID---One of our Ga members---71 440-6pak Chally
« on: August 06, 2006 - 05:04:25 PM »
Went to Atlanta Dragway Friday with one of our members.  He just did a little test & tune and raced a friend of his in a late model Trans Am.  The Trans Am has had mucho performance stuff done to it--aluminum heads, big cam, computer stuff, DOT street slicks, stall converter---you get the idea.  The Chally is your basic cam, headers, 440 6-pak, 4 speed car.  The vid speaks for itself,  The Chally launched clean and had the T/A at the 1/8th.  For some reason, an unknown gremlin struck the car in high gear and it mysteriously quit pulling.  The T/A barely edged him out by 1/2 second.  It was a lot of fun and I hope to go back some more this year.  Every Friday night---test and tune.  $20.00 to run as many times as you would like.  Enjoy....   :burnout:   :cooldancing:

If you are not set up with Quick Time player---you will have to take 1 minute to follow the links and get one.  Very easy to do.  Hope this helps ya.

Thanks  Sounds like a missed shift or fuel starvation?

The noise was the T/A bumping against the rev limiter.  The T/A was very loud.  The sound you hear during the race is nearly all T/A.  The Chally sounds great, but it isn't loud when compared to an open exhaust......

69RS----  I thought you did a great job driving that 4 speed.  Especially the 2nd pass-----wrestle, shift---wrestle, shift..............    :poopoke:    :smilielol:   :roflsmiley:

Not sure,  could be fuel starvation, or just one of those "Twilight Zone" moments with an old Mopar.  It ran great the rest of the day.......     It was a very fun day.  Needless to say when the Chally showed up, it wasn't the fastest car there, but it got the most positive attention from the folks.  Everyone was saying that it was the nicest car at the track.  You don't see these old cars in stock form tearing up the 1/4 mile anymore.  The sight took me back in time.......    :cooldancing:   :cooldancing:

Very cool video!  Thanks for posting it!

$20 for all the runs you want?  Sounds like a great deal!
