How long did it take Galen to decode your car?
« on: August 07, 2006 - 03:37:13 PM »
I sent him all the needed information on my 70 440-6 Cuda back in January, maybe December. 7 or 8 months kind of seems like a long time to me... :dunno: I have called several times over the past few months and have always been told it has been done and will be mailed the next day.  :clueless:

I've never worked with him before, but from what I've heard, you're wait time is not out of the ordinary.  Seems a bit ridiculous to me...Barry can do the same thing for you.

It took him 11 months when I sent mine in two years ago. Be patient.

Over a year and a half!

You're only half way there.

I would not recomend his services.
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

 :iagree:

You and me both....he took over 2 years just to acknowledge my registration of my 70 Coronet R/T ragtop. I once did a phone consultation with him about a two-tone blue/white interior on a Cuda, and he did not know the answers to some of my questions about what colors certain parts should be. He charges my credit card $85 and cant even answer my questions? That was the last time i dealt with him.

Yep, I understand. I have owned this car since the mid 80's and decoded it myself years ago, but decided to go ahead and get it documented from Galen because it would make it somewhat easier for my family to sell if anything happened to me. The more documentation, the better.

Update: Almost 2 years and have not recieved anything from Galen. I have sent a couple emails during the past year with no reply so I called 2 weeks ago, a nice lady answers and takes my information, keeps me on hold for 6-7 minutes while she checks on my order, tells me that she is downloading 800+ emails and the computor is REAL slow (guess they don't have but one computer  :dunno:) anyway she then tells me that she will call me right back, within the next few minutes. Needless to say, I am still waiting. I was going to cancel the order a long time ago but just decided to ride this thing out and see how long it really takes. And this from a guy that has called me several times over the years to buy/broker my 71 'vert even though it has NEVER been for sale. Evidently he got my number after decoding the convertible back in 1995. I was not in any hurry to get this so I saw no reason to pay the extra $ for rush service so my question is, does he ever decode one without the extra money?

I honestly would not know Galen from a hole in the wall, and this is certainly not to defend his lack of performance, but I do know that his wife passed away a couple months ago after a long battle with cancer (I believe).  He was supposed to be at the Mopar mini Nats in Dallas last month, but was a no-show.  Not sure what excuses he might have for 2 years, but I just wanted to throw that out there before any nasty emails fly out.

I know his wife passed away and I am very understanding of the time and stress in dealing with an illness of that type since I live next to my Dad and helped care for him until he died in August, but life goes on and I still have to run our business without him. There have been nothing but polite and considerate communications with him even though he has shown absolutely no respect for my time. Or money. This really is not a big enough deal for me to get mad over since I have no intentions of selling my car, I just don't understand how he continues to run a business like he does. I doubt that many people are as patient as I have been.

Over 2 years. I'd be out of business if I had customers waiting that long.  :villagers: But I've heard alot of similar stories on other boards and at a few shows. I'd be done with it myself.  :walkaway:
