    OK,
      This week, I'll go first. It's a minor thing, but it took me some nerve to drill more holes into the body of my car.  :scared:  :scared:  :scared: You only get one chance to do it right. I added hood pins.  :woo:  :woohoo:

    What did you use for a reference?  I'm going to try this today, I got my hood pins on thurs.  Any pics of the underside locations?  Sorry for the questions just want to be sure!

    No, the center latch is still there. The pins were put on more for show, but's it's good to know they serve a function "just in case".  :grinyes:

    Believe it or not, my inner fenders already had holes for the pins to mount to. So that was a good start. The hood has little circles on the outer edge, let's call them cut-outs. I pretty much drilled thru the center of those cut-outs. I hope the 72 hood works the same way for your sake. I'll go get some pics later for ya.

    I have a T/A style hood so it doesn't have those little circles underneath!  This stinks - like you said only one shot.  I'm in the garage now and getting gunshy! Do you have an approx measurement from front/edges to center that would be a start for me.  Do the pins mount through the rad support?  Seems to far back to me.  I have fiber fenders also and worried they aren't strong enough to hold hood pins and hood at speed!  Any input here is appreciated.

    Tom,

      Here are my pics. They measure the same each side. The good news is you can make the holes a little bigger than necessary, because the stainless lid will cover it.  :naughty: I worked on the 2 big holes first. After I was satisfied how the hood opened, and closed, I put on the 4 little screws to hold each stainless cover in place. As I mentioned, I already had the holes in my inner fender for the posts. You have to play a little to get the posts the right height.

    Looks good Mike!  :2thumbs: 

    As for me and the Beast, I have a small setback in my plans for some track time.   :walkaway:  When you run 10:99 or faster, you must have a current NHRA chassis certification.  The certification expired in April this year.  Well, there is only 1 guy that can do a Chassis Cert in Ga and he is 3 hours away.  I loaded up the Beast and off I went.  His inspection discovered that since the last certification 3 years ago, the rollcage rules have changed.  Long story short, I need another section of cage installed before I can do my thing on the track.   :swear:  No big deal, but it does delay my fun.  I have a friend of mine that will take care of it, but he is backed up at his shop somewhat.  I'll get it done as soon as I can and report back.  Oh---btw---he did say everything else was way above par on the car and he tried to get me to contact some of his S/S racing buddies and sell em the Beast!   :scared:

    I spent the afternoon w/your pis and it's done!  I had the holes in the fenders as well and used these as a reference to start.  I also looked at as many pics as I could find of fiberglass hoods.  I only drilled holes and mocked it all up as my car is supposed to get painted this week.  I also spent some time test fitting trunk/quarter extensions, hood mouldings.  Stripped headlight and tailights removed the rest of the gaskets that needed to come off.  Again thanks for your help w/hood pins.  Is that a steel hood?  Looks like they did a nice job molding the scoop to it. :2thumbs:

       I am SOOO glad I could help you!!!  :grinyes: I'm glad you got 'er done!!  :clapping: As for my hood... UMM, yep, that's a fiberglass hoodscoop on a steel hood. Nice idea, but that was my introduction into body work. Trying to mold it right.  :pullinghair: What you see ISN'T what I saw when I bought the car.  :lol: My life isn't easy!!!  :grinno:

    I forgot that I also test fit my new bumpers from YO made by Keystone  seem nice to me  Sorry no pics until after paint. :2thumbs:
