Had a problem driving home from a car show yesturday. The night before I had a dead battery on my 440 six-pack Cuda clone, I put the charger on it all night. The next morning the car started right up. Drove about 45 min. to the show in 100 degree heat, and parked. My electric fan ran about 10 min cooling down the car. When I was leaving the car had a dead battery, so I needed a jump, I thinking I need a new battery. About halfway home on the Highway cruising at 70mph the car starts backfiring and sputtering. I did manage to make it home threw the city at 30mph.
My question is, would a dead battery or bad alternater make the car start backfiring? Plugwires are fine.
Thanks for the help.
