New Guy from GA
« on: August 14, 2006 - 01:19:38 PM »
I wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Andy, and I'm a mechanical engineering student at Clemson University.  I have been a mopar fan for a long time.  My dad bought the D300 in my sig when I was 2 years old and he gave the truck to me about 4 years ago.  I have always enjoyed driving it and seeing the puzzled looks on peoples faces, and them always asking me what kind of truck it was.   ;D  I am about to start on a Cuda with the help of my uncle.  The car was originally a 318 3 speed car but a "much stronger" 340 now resides between the frame rails as does a 4 speed and a dana 60 rear.  The car has been sitting for 25 years, and we just got it moved under a shelter yesterday.  It is going to need an entire front clip, rear floor pans, truck lid and a back glass to get started.  Before it was parked the motor had about ~50 miles on it.  Approximately 13:1 CR.  He said when the car was running it would pick the wheels off the ground in 1st and 2nd. A carb backfire sidelined the car after someone put the fire out with a fire extinquisher ruining the holley dp carb.  I guess we are going to see if we can get it running again before we buy sheet metal parts for it.  Well, thats my story so far.  Hopefully I'll have some cool progress pics along the way.  Attached are some pictures after I got it out of the woods and under the shelter.  I didn't have much time to clean it up.   I got all of the junk out of the inside of it, and cleaned the windows.  I put the interior in storage to preserve it.

I'll replace the voltage regulator, lol.  Thanks for the welcome guys.  I think we are going to clean the car up, getting it running and driving and work the bugs out.  Once that is done, it will be time for under carriage detailing, paint,  cleaning up the motor and doing interior.  Are dash pads or steering wheels reproduced now?

New dash "CAPS" avail. around $100. Re-covering sevices run $550++
Plenty of good OE steering wheels on the market  but the cool ticket seems to be the Repro. Tuff Wheel $250++
