'Cuda Progress - Mild Tidy Up
« on: August 16, 2006 - 04:00:17 PM »

Thought I'd better update you guys on whats happening with the 'Cuda.
It's going in for a full body paint tomorrow minus the engine bay as that's pretty tidy.

It was originally going in for some fender, 1/4 and rear window touch ups when the painter and Dave came up with a bargain price to do the entire car, it's $2K more to do it all compared to a little less for 15%'s worth.
It was something I would have be silly not to take on...........

The cars as solid as they come. Trunk & floor pans, sills, rear window area all mint and solid.
The car is stripped down and will take about 3-4 weeks for the mild body work and paint to be complete.

Other parts ready to install once back from paint:

 - Rebuilt performance orientated TorqueFlite-727
 - BPE Kick-down & throttle kit
 - New interior door panels and pillar post moldings
 - Pioneer Head-unit, Eclipse 6x9" speakers and top of the line Radar
 - Alarm
 - New 7lb Starter motor and heat shield
 - New flat black hockey stripe decals
 - 3/4" Autometer tach (will sit on the end of the console on the "lip")
 - Brake Kit
 - New air filter set up
 - Cuda floor mats
 - Tune the Demon
 - Re-install Go-Wing

With the added viscous fan & electric fan (on switch) there'll be no over heating for this fish.
Should be ready to roll in about 6 weeks.

Can't wait!! Lucy was there keeping an eye on her whilst waiting for her GV module to come back (again).

Cheers,
Carl

The Go-Wing has been mocked and looked good on. We did away with the ARP style brackets as they were weak and a badly designed. They recommended welding them in so the wing was there for good and also it was only holding on by the skin of the trunk lid. Now with these custom brackets and steel rod the wing has the entire trunk lid for strength and it can be removed if necessary. See attached photos of brackets.

Wow!  I don't think I'd call a repaint a "mild" tidy up.  A mild tidy up is a wash and a vaccuum!  :roflsmiley:  Can't wait to see it Carl.  It looked pretty darn good before! :grinyes:

Thanks everyone. Yeah, shes was in good shape before and looked pretty nice but was a 2 to 5ft car.  :icon16:
She'll look good now from 1" away once we're done.

As for the "mild" I know, I wasn't sure about what to call it. Mild "resto" didn't quite fit. I always see and hear guys at car shows saying they've just done a full resto and on many occasions it's nothing more than a tidy up or paint (with interior and engine in). The term "restoration" is used loosely nowadays.

jvike - Yip, same colour - Limelight.

Cheers,
carl

Thanks mate. Nope both my cars are TorqueFlite-727 cars. The Challengers was rebuilt with a shift kit the Cudas is built for performance. I'm not a big manual person, fun, yes, but I prefer the performance and cruise of the 727.
