i thought the same thing and then i put 4-5 regulators on there. i even took the alt back and got another one. some how it was letting it through. when I changed from another store (2 pully) regulator worked how it should have. the wires did not mount in the same position on the one pully alt. I now have a 2 pully alt on there and just need to switch the pullies.
