Lugnut threads

Did late 60s mopar cars originally come with reverse threaded studs on the driver's side? I know it was used on older trucks, but I discovered my B-body had them after breaking two studs off last night.

My '69 Charger R/T did... I always said, if I had to change anything on the front end, the first were gonna be those.... Well, now the guy who owns it now, has done a disc brake conversion on it, kit from SSBC if I remember right.

I owned 6 "B" bods back in the day.  They were year models '67 - '70.  All of them had left hand thread on the driver side.  I never changed em, I just turned em the right way..    :2thumbs:

Yes, I found out the hard way changing a flat in the middle of winter-snapped all 5 off!  Man it was cold fixing that mess.  The guy at the counter said "Left or Right hand thread?"  In my head I said "OH SH*T" out loud "Right". :roflsmiley:

Wish I remembered this before I twisted one off, it mushroomed out the hole on the rim can that be fixed or am I going to be searching for a new old rim?

anything can be fixed , but price wise it may be cheaper to replace it depending what size & style rim it is

Could be wrong but I though Dad's Dodge truck have them (73) and could have sworn the Challenger(73) had them...now I will have to go look.

Must have been the same guy at Chrysler that decided that the keys should go in upside down.

 I can't comment on the trucks, but they stopped this hideous idea after 1970 in E-Bodies. I can't imagine how many people took their car to a shop for a tire change, and stumped the mechanic.  :smilielol:

You must own a GM , in reality Chysler keys go in the right way with the pins on top so dirt falls out of the lock Not into the mechanism , virtually all residential & commercial locks work the same way with the pins on top of the GM is the one that is backwards

 Dodge quit left hand threads in 70 BUt I worked on a Freightliner tandem Dump truck today , early 80s & Yup it had left hand threads on the left side

That does make perfectly good sense now to have the key in the other direction. I had never thought about it that way. Yes, I have had GMs since about 1979 when I departed Mopar and bought a 1979 Z-28 (The only brand new car that I have ever bought and at the time wasn't crazy about any others that I had to choose from).
