Yes, this will require the door to be repainted.  And some minor body work on the body line as well.  This sucks.

OUCH!

If he has insurance, file a claim with his insurance company, and they should fix it. That's what we all pay through the nose for. Most of the adjusters understand about show cars, and are willing to bend as much as possible.

I would first use a "Dentless" repair guy. I've seen miracles performed with much worse.
Once I Had a six foot wooden gate to my backyard propped open on a windy day while I was attaching my boat trailer to my wife's suburban. The wind blew the gate into the center of the panel below the rear window denting the middle of the panel.
The part of the gate that hit was a heavy metal bracket that held a 2x4 when the gate was closed. Much worse than your dent and for $90.00 the guy tapped it out from the backside in 5 minutes.
Even getting down next to it and looking at where the ding had been revealed no imperfection in the reflection. Then a touch-up expert can fix the scratch.
You paint the whole door and you know it may not match up to the other panels in different light.
Either way it sucks that it happened and he should gladly pay. good luck !

Ouch!  Well, it could have been worse.  Be glad he wasn't driving a p.o.s. and ran a scratch down the length of your car.

Nice trophies though!

I forgot to mention that you may be able to file a claim against either the owner of the other car, or the guy that did the actual damage, or both. Talk to your agent and get his/her opinion. I believe that what happened would fall under the "comprehensive" part of your policy (providing you have insurance). Your company is obligated to repair the damages to your satisfaction, so they will do everything in their power to pawn it off on the other guy. If your company gives you grief, look for another company. Won't help you this time, but they won't get any more of your money either. And when you cancel, write a letter to the main office explaining why.

:swear: It's amazing how STUPID people can be! Make the jackass pay for the damage. He shouldn't be around a car like yours PERIOD. And the way you describe it it almost sounds intentional. The only way a person like that will learn is if you correct him about the error in his ways! :villagers:

After the touch-up it doesn't look too bad now... but you can still see it.  Those are what we call heartbrakers.... as long as you just have one.
